Through political advocacy, we promote development in the core areas that shape your career. Whether you work in pharma, medtech, research, hospitals, regulatory bodies, pharmacies, or local government, we fight for your interests.
A Highly Qualified Workforce
Education builds a highly qualified workforce
To unlock the full potential of the life science industry, we must secure a highly qualified workforce. That means attracting and retaining international talent and students, supporting strong research environments, and maintaining high-quality education.
We work to ensure that:
- The life science workforce has the right competencies to meet society’s needs for reliable and effective patient care, innovation, and economic growth
- Research environments thrive and receive the support they need
- International students choose Denmark—and choose to stay
- The transition from studies to work is smoother for both Danish and international students through inclusive study environments and better access to student jobs
Lifelong learning secures the future
New technologies are reshaping the workplace. If the life science sector is to remain competitive, it needs a workforce that continuously updates its skills. Upskilling and lifelong learning are essential.
We advocate for:
- A stronger role for universities in continuing education
- Publicly funded training programs tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized life science companies
- An education fund that follows the individual, making lifelong learning more accessible—especially for employees in SMEs
- Short, targeted courses (micro-credentials) to make upskilling faster and more flexible
- A clear overview of relevant life science training options
A Sustainable working life for all
Diversity and Inclusion: Foundations of a Sustainable Work Culture
Women hold only 20% of executive and board positions in life science, despite making up 53% of the workforce. Pay gaps and discrimination—especially against ethnic minorities—also remain challenges. We work toward a more inclusive and equitable industry.
Our goals:
- Equal access to education and employment—free from discrimination
- Gender balance in leadership and governance
- Life-phase policies that enable flexible careers without sacrificing long-term earnings or opportunities
- Salary transparency to help close the pay gap
- Bias-free recruitment practices
Supporting neurodivergent talent
More students and professionals are being diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety, or autism. Many worry whether they’ll find a place in the job market. With a growing demand for skilled workers, the life science sector must become more inclusive.
We promote:
- Openness about diagnoses in hiring processes
- Flexible work environments that support different energy levels and needs
- Leadership tools that foster well-being for neurodivergent employees
- Faster processing of disability allowances to prevent dropouts among students with diagnoses
Reliable and effective patient care starts with you
Pharmacists bring a unique perspective across specialties—especially in treating patients with multiple conditions. They are essential in hospitals, pharmacies, and municipalities, offering consultations, medication reviews, and expert support.
We push for:
- Pharmacists to play a central role in patient care across the health system
- A fixed place for pharmacists in multidisciplinary teams—in hospitals, mental health, primary care, and municipalities
- Assigned pharmacists in nursing homes to ensure safe and effective medication use
Authorization = Better Care
Today, pharmacists working closely with patients lack professional authorization. This creates confusion among healthcare leaders and colleagues about their responsibilities—and risks compromising care quality and safety.
We support:
- Authorization for pharmacists working directly with patients in hospitals, pharmacies, and municipalities
- Recognizing these professionals as “clinical pharmacists,” with a certification process to match
Sustainable use of pharmaceuticals
Reducing waste and overmedication
The production, distribution, and disposal of medicines strain the environment. Overmedication adds to the problem—especially in patients with chronic or complex conditions. Medicines that go unused waste money, energy, and resources.
We work to:
- Prevent overmedication and improve medication use
- Cut medicine waste
- Promote sustainable packaging sizes that match treatment durations
- Replace prescriptions with direct dispensing by pharmacists based on medical instructions
Fighting antibiotic resistance with the AMR Alliance
Antibiotic resistance is a global health threat and a barrier to a sustainable healthcare system. It already causes over 670,000 infections and 33,000 deaths annually in the EU alone. By 2050, the UN warns it could cause 10 million deaths per year—surpassing cancer.
Pharmadanmark collaborates with the AMR Alliance to address this silent pandemic.
Together, we push for:
- Broad political and public awareness of antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
- Better education on responsible antibiotic use—for both healthcare professionals and the public
- Increased use of vaccination to reduce antibiotic demand
- Innovation in diagnostics and support for new methods
- Development of new antibiotics through better funding models and incentives
- New treatment regimens that can cure chronic bacterial infections
