JOB SEARCH

Use artificial intelligence in your job search

Artificial intelligence can be a useful sparring partner when you are looking for a job. We guide you on how to make the most of AI tools.

Artificial intelligence (AI) can help you understand job ads, tailor your application and prepare for a job interview. Use it as a sparring partner, not as the author of your application.

You can use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot and Claude. Which tool you choose is not the most important thing. What matters is how you use it.

Start with a clear task

You will get better answers when you clearly explain what you need help with.

Describe the position you are applying for and which part of your job search you are working on. Ask for analysis, questions or suggestions rather than a complete application.

Only provide the information the tool needs. For example, share relevant parts of the job ad and an anonymised extract from your CV.

5 trin: Sådan bruger du AI i jobsøgningen

1. Understand the job ad

Ask the tool to identify the most important tasks and skills in the job ad.

For example, you can write:

Which four tasks are most important in this job ad? Briefly explain what the employer is looking for.

2. Find your best examples

Review your CV and choose experiences that match the most important tasks.

For example, you can write:

Which experiences in this extract from my CV are the best match for the job ad? Only use the information I have provided.

3. Plan your application

Ask for suggestions for a simple structure. Then write the text yourself using your own examples and motivation.

For example, you can write:

Suggest a structure for a short application that includes my motivation, professional examples and how I can contribute to the role.

4. Get feedback on your text

Use the tool to identify repetition, unclear wording and sections that need more specific examples.

For example, you can write:

Give me feedback on this text. Point out unclear sentences, but do not rewrite the entire application.

5. Prepare for the job interview

Ask for examples of questions you might be asked. You can also get help preparing good questions for the employer.

For example, you can write:

Which five questions might I be asked at the interview? Which specific examples should I prepare?

Make the result your own

Your application should give an honest and personal impression of who you are. Do not use AI-generated suggestions without reviewing them carefully.

Artificial intelligence often produces language that can sound complicated and impersonal. It may seem impressive, but consider how you can make the text your own.

Rewrite the text so it sounds like you. Remove phrases you would not normally use. Check that all experiences, achievements and skills are accurate.

Be careful what you share

Consider removing personal information before sharing your CV with an AI service.

The same applies to confidential information from current or previous workplaces. Only share documents and other material that you have the right to share.

Check before you send

Artificial intelligence can produce convincing answers even when the information is inaccurate or incorrect. Always review your material carefully.

In particular, check:

  • Is all the information correct?

  • Are the examples your own?

  • Does the text sound like you?

  • Is the text tailored to the specific position?

  • Do your CV and application complement each other?

  • Have you checked the language, spelling and layout

Ask someone else to read your material before you send it.
