Become a mentor
As a mentor, you support a less experienced colleague in their professional and personal development. Learn more about the programme and what it takes to become a mentor.
Would you like to make a difference for a less experienced colleague? Then consider becoming a mentor in our mentoring programme.
You do not need to be an expert. What matters is your willingness to listen, ask questions, and share your professional experience. At the same time, the programme gives you the opportunity to develop your own skills as a sparring partner, advisor, and role model.
A mentoring relationship creates reflection and learning for both parties. As a mentee gains new insights, you as a mentor strengthen your communication and leadership skills. You also gain new perspectives and may be challenged by your mentee’s view of working life.
What does it take to be a mentor?
Being a mentor requires curiosity about others and the ability to listen with openness and empathy. You do not need to have all the answers, but you should feel comfortable sharing your own experiences and being honest – including about the challenges you have faced.
A good mentor is patient, supportive, and able to ask questions that help the mentee move forward in their reflections.
We match you with a mentee who has less experience and is looking for guidance in their working life. This may include situations such as a career change, a new role, a development ambition, or managing a high workload.
Consider which experiences you can contribute with, for example leadership experience, experience from academia or industry, international experience, or complex career transitions.
The mentor role requires a willingness to engage in a development process over time. You support the mentee’s journey and act as a sparring partner without taking control.
What do you gain as a mentor?
Many mentors find that the programme also strengthens their own development. You have the opportunity to improve your communication skills, explore your leadership style, and reflect on your own career.
It is a chance to make a meaningful difference while continuing to grow yourself. You gain inspiration from hearing how others experience the industry and may see your own experiences in a new light.
The programme also gives you insight into what motivates the next generation of professionals. You gain new perspectives and you may find that you learn just as much as your mentee does.
Mentoring is voluntary and driven by motivation. You take part because you want to contribute and share your experience – not because you have to but because you choose to.
How the programme works
The mentoring programme runs for approximately 10 months – from September to June.
You will meet around eight times during the programme. Each session lasts about one and a half hours and is scheduled to fit your calendars.
As a mentor, you are not expected to prepare extensively between sessions. The most important thing is that you are present, listen actively, and contribute through reflection and dialogue.
Apply to become a mentor
