Legal framework and training rights

The Education and Development Fund is financed through the collective agreement for community pharmacists. The guidelines for use of the fund’s resources are agreed between the Danish Association of Pharmacies and Pharmadanmark.

The right to training pursuant to the collective agreement, section 16, is outlined below:

Section 16(1):

Every pharmacist is required to keep their professional knowledge up to date through continuing education. The pharmacy owner and the pharmacist must jointly prepare a plan for the development of the pharmacist’s professional and personal competences, including the content and scope of continuing education. The plan is updated in connection with an annual development review.

Section 16(2):

As part of continuing education, every pharmacist has the right, at the pharmacy’s expense, to participate in at least one pharmacy-related course per year. Course participation is agreed with the pharmacy owner. By agreement between the pharmacy owner and the pharmacist, this right may be converted into another form of professional continuing education. If a pharmacist, due to cancellation of a registered course, is unable to participate in at least one pharmacy-related course in a given year, the pharmacist is entitled to two courses the following year. For group applications, the names and Danish personal identification numbers (CPR numbers) of group members must be stated in the application form.
