Forskelsbehandling på jobbet
Du har ret til at blive behandlet lige på din arbejdsplads. Få overblik over reglerne om forskelsbehandling, og hvad du kan gøre, hvis du oplever diskrimination.
If you experience discrimination at work, it is important to know that you are protected by law.
Discrimination means that you are treated less favourably than others without a valid reason. It is unlawful under anti-discrimination legislation and applies before, during, and after your employment.
The rules apply regardless of who you are or how you live your life. If you have questions about your situation, we can help you understand your rights.
You are protected by law
Your employer must not discriminate against you, either directly or indirectly.
This includes discrimination based on factors such as age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender, or ethnic origin.
These rules apply to all aspects of your working life, including recruitment, pay, promotion, and dismissal.
What is discrimination?
There are two types of discrimination: direct and indirect.
Direct discrimination occurs when you are treated less favourably than others in a similar situation. This is unlawful and gives you the right to protection.
Examples include:
Not being hired because of your religion
Being dismissed because of your sexual orientation
Indirect discrimination occurs when a rule or requirement appears neutral but in practice disadvantages certain groups more than others.
For example, this could be language requirements that are not necessary to perform the job.
Such requirements are only lawful if they are necessary and proportionate to the role.
Discrimination based on disability
If you have a long-term condition that affects your ability to work, you may be protected under rules on discrimination related to disability.
Your employer is required to make reasonable adjustments to support you in performing your job.
This may include providing special equipment or adapting your tasks.
Whether you are covered by the law is always assessed based on your individual situation.
