WELL-BEING AT WORK

Feeling drained after work? Get your energy back

Are you still feeling tired and unmotivated several weeks after your holiday? Learn when tiredness is a natural reaction – and when it may be a sign that you are running low on energy.

You returned from your holiday several weeks ago and should be back in your normal work routine by now, but you still feel tired, low on energy and unmotivated.

The transition from holiday to work can easily take a couple of weeks. The alarm clock is ringing again, your days are more structured, and there is less time to simply do what you feel like doing.

So, it is not necessarily unusual to feel more tired than expected, even several weeks after returning to work. But if you still feel drained, unmotivated and low on energy after 3–4 weeks, it may be time to take action and find out what you need to get back on track.

For many Pharmadanmark members, working life involves high professional demands, significant responsibility, deadlines and periods of intense activity. This can be both exciting and motivating, but it also makes recovery and a healthy balance between work and personal life essential.

So, when is tiredness simply a natural reaction to returning from holiday – and when is it a sign that work is taking more energy than you have time to regain?

Are you just tired – or is your job starting to drain you?

If the tiredness persists, if work continues to occupy your thoughts during your free time, or if your motivation quickly disappears again, it is worth taking a closer look at whether your job is leaving you exhausted.

Work-related exhaustion can show up in different ways. Common signs include:

  • feeling tired or exhausted most of the time

  • becoming more negative or cynical about your work

  • finding it harder to concentrate and complete tasks

  • experiencing less job satisfaction or professional confidence

  • finding it difficult to switch off from work at the end of the day.

Pharmadanmark’s career counsellors can help you get a clearer picture of your situation and identify what you need. This could mean finding ways to regain your motivation and job satisfaction, making changes in your current role, or considering whether it is time to explore new opportunities. If you are looking for a new job, you can also get guidance on your career direction, job search and next steps.
