The unemployment scheme for people living abroad

Pharmadanmark’s unemployment scheme provides a financial supplement to unemployment benefits if you become involuntarily unemployed.

Do you live abroad?

If you live abroad, there are several important conditions to consider when it comes to PDA.

You can receive PDA support for up to 26 weeks while living abroad. Normally, PDA covers up to 52 weeks.

To receive the remaining 26 weeks (bringing the total to a maximum of 52 weeks), you must have moved back to Denmark within 52 weeks of starting to receive PDA support.

TIN (Tax Identification Number)

Providing your TIN (Tax Identification Number) is a requirement for receiving PDA payments.

The TIN is used by national tax authorities – both within and outside the EU – to identify taxpayers. Through the TIN, information may be exchanged with other EU countries, including for the purpose of determining tax liability.

For some individuals, it can be difficult to find or obtain a TIN, and in some countries, the processing time for issuing a TIN can be lengthy.

We therefore recommend that you obtain your TIN from the tax authorities in your country of residence well in advance of when your PDA payments are expected to begin.

Please note that Pharmadanmark is not responsible for obtaining your TIN, and we cannot pay PDA support without it.
