Who can get support from PDA?
You qualify for salary insurance through PDA if you:
- Have been a member for 24 months
- Or for 12 months if you joined after finishing your studies
- Have 12 months of relevant professional work experience
- Were laid off or completed a temporary contract
- Are actively seeking employment and available for work
You are not eligible if you resigned voluntarily or receive state pension.
Conditions for receiving PDA
- On your first day of unemployment, you must have been an active member of the association for two years (24 months)
- If you have been a member since graduation, you are eligible after one year
-
Within this two-year period (or one year if you joined after graduation), you must:
-
Have had 12 months of relevant professional employment, and
-
Have paid full membership fees during those 12 months
-
-
You are not eligible for PDA support if you qualify for the state retirement pension. You must be:
-
Dismissed from your job, or
-
Have held a fixed-term position (a fixed-term position means employment with a defined end date from the start)
-
If you have held a PhD fellowship, you can receive PDA support after submitting your thesis and your contract has ended
-
- During the support period, you must be available to the labor market and actively seeking employment. Please note:
-
PDA rules do not follow those of state-recognized unemployment insurance funds
-
For example, you will not receive support if you resign voluntarily
-
Therefore, always contact the association’s secretariat before resigning from your position.

Why does Pharmadanmark Offer PDA
For highly educated professionals, unemployment benefits alone rarely cover your financial needs. That’s why Pharmadanmark provides salary insurance through our collective PDA scheme—so you can maintain financial stability if you lose your job.
With PDA, you can increase your monthly income during unemployment by up to DKK 13,468 before tax—in addition to your regular unemployment benefits.
How does PDA Work?
PDA is a collective salary insurance scheme that supports you based on your previous income. If you’re receiving the maximum unemployment benefit of DKK 21,092, your total monthly income can reach up to DKK 34,560 before tax when PDA is included.
How your salary insurance is calculated:
Your PDA salary insurance is based on:
- Your average salary from the 3 months before unemployment
- Minus 8% labor market contribution (AM-bidrag)
You can receive up to:
- 85% of your previous income covered (including unemployment benefits)
- A maximum of DKK 13,468/month from PDA
PDA is governed by different rules than unemployment insurance funds (a-kasser). Always contact us before you resign.

How to Apply for PDA
You can apply up to one month before your first day of unemployment—but not after. Here's how:
- Log in to Min side
- Select Apply for PDA
- Upload requested documents (e.g., pay slips, termination notice)
- Submit monthly reports – note PDA has different deadlines than your a-kasse
Living abroad?
Different rules apply to members living outside Denmark.
