Become a mentor and make a difference

Would you like to make a real impact on a colleague’s career?

As a mentor in Pharmadanmark’s mentoring program, you get the opportunity to support a less experienced professional in their personal and professional development. You don’t need to be an expert – just someone willing to listen, ask questions, and share your own experiences from working life.

At the same time, being a mentor gives you the chance to grow your own skills as a coach, sounding board, and role model.

Why become a mentor?

Mentoring creates learning and reflection for both parties. As a mentor, you’ll help your mentee gain new insight – and you’ll develop too. You’ll strengthen your communication and leadership skills, gain new perspectives, and be challenged by how your mentee views work and the life science industry.

What does it take to be a good mentor?

Being a mentor is about curiosity and empathy. You don’t need to have all the answers, but you should feel comfortable sharing your own experiences – even the difficult ones. A good mentor is patient, open, and able to ask thoughtful questions that help the mentee move forward.

We match you with a mentee who has less experience and is seeking guidance in their career. They may be navigating a new role, considering a career change, experiencing pressure at work, or looking for professional development. Think about the insights you can offer – perhaps from leadership, academia, industry, international roles, or complex career shifts.

Mentoring requires commitment over time. You’ll need to support your mentee’s process and offer guidance – not take over.

What’s in it for you?

Many mentors tell us that the experience helps them grow, too. You’ll have the chance to strengthen your communication style, explore your own leadership approach, and reflect on your own career path. Being a mentor is a chance to make a meaningful difference while developing yourself.

You’ll be inspired by hearing how the next generation sees the industry – and you may realize you’re learning just as much as you’re giving.

Mentoring is voluntary – it should come from a genuine desire to contribute and engage.

How the program works

The mentoring program runs from September to June – around 10 months. You’ll meet approximately eight times, with each session lasting about 90 minutes. Meetings are scheduled to fit your calendar, and as a mentor, you’re not expected to prepare extensively between sessions. What matters most is that you’re present, supportive, and willing to reflect and share.
